How to activate data manager on Airtel Kenya line + deactivate / check status

If you want to learn how to activate data manager on Airtel Kenya line, I am going to show you the steps you can follow – using the *544# and *100# Airtel USSD codes. I am also going to show you how to check the status of your data manager. If you already have the manager activated and looking for step-by-step instructions on how to deactivate it, that too is addressed in this article.

Why activate data manager?

Usually, when you buy a data bundle from Airtel and use it all, you will still be able to access the internet – if you have airtime. With data bundles you enjoy browsing at low prices. When you browse without purchasing a data bundle first, your data charges will be high. So, to avoid accidentally incurring high data charges once your bundle runs out, you can simply activate the data manager – which is free to use.

If you don’t want your airtime to be used once your data bundle runs out, activating the data manager on your prepaid line will ensure that not even a cent is touched by the telco. So, if you have Kenya Shillings 200 airtime and spend KSh 99 to buy the daily 2GB + free WhatsApp bundle, the remaining 101 Shillings will not be touched once the 2GB runs out.
