In this post, I am going to show you how to check data bundle balance on Airtel Kenya prepaid lines.

Checking your bundle balance details regularly is good advice especially for internet users who don’t want to be left hanging in the middle of a movie or having their connection interrupted (so they have to start doing whatever they were doing again e.g. downloading media, updating a blog post, sending an email or filling a form online).

Using this method, you only get one text message. Mine reads as follows: You are currently using 1.5GB bundle valid until 12-09-19 18:45. Balance is 836MB.

OR

  • Dial *100#
  • Select option 3. Manage My Account
  • Select option 1. Number & Balance

You’ll get two text messages: one with your airtime balance and another with your data balance details. The text messages look like this.

  1. Your number is 254736123456 and the balance is 5.01
  2. You are currently using 1.5 GB bundle valid until 12-09-19 18:45. Balance is 836 MB

From the messages, you can tell:

  • how much data you have left (if your data is going to last you the whole day / week / month. This will depend on your current usage habits)
  • what data bundle you bought
  • when the data bundle you bought will expire, down to the minute
  • how much airtime you have left – and if it is enough to buy a similar bundle (or another bundle offering in Airtel Kenya 544 menu)

How to check Airtel Kenya Kopa Data / Kopa Internet bundle balance

What if you borrow data / internet bundles from Airtel Kenya via the Kopa Services menu? I wrote an article about this and published it on Niabusiness.com.

In the article, you can learn more about Airtel’s advance airtime service (similar to Safaricom Okoa Jahazi and Telkom Kenya PEWA service).

In this post, I am just going to show you how to check your Kopa Data balance.

To get your balance, follow the steps below:

  • Dial *544#
  • Select Next by entering *
  • Select option 10) Check Data Balance

You can use the methods above to check balance details of the following Airtel Kenya data bundles under the Amazing Data menu

  • Daily Bundles
  • 7 Days Bundles
  • 30 Days + 5GB free YouTube bundles
  • 90 Days Bundles
  • UnlimiNet
  • UnlimiNet Modem Bundles
  • UnlimiNet Combo, and
  • Kopa Data

Why check your Airtel bundle balance

  • To see if it is time to top up your Airtel line and buy another bundle. If you are using the 2 GB daily bundle for example, you can check your bundle balance once you see the SMS alerting you that your data is 95% consumed. Then you can top up your prepaid account and buy another bundle without disconnecting from the internet. This is important especially if you are uploading / downloading a large file or streaming a movie or TV series online.
  • To be sure if the bundle you have left can sustain your needs for the period the bundle remains active. You want your weekly internet bundle to last the whole 7 days – or at least 5 or 6 days. Checking your balance can help you pace yourself – ensure you have enough data for each day the bundle remains active.
