Want more sites that offer freelance jobs in Kenya? These are the websites that keep coming up

I just launched this section of the site on May the 31st 2020 to help connect freelancers and clients in Kenya. So, it is still new on the scene. Not so for remote work / online freelance work.

Which is why I had to go on Google Search, type in freelance jobs in Kenya – on different web browsers – to see the websites that keep coming up on the search results pages.

I have known about online freelancing for years – and enjoyed the benefits of getting hired and getting paid for my article writing service, and I did it all when Niabusiness Classifieds didn’t exist.

Note that Niabusiness has linked to some of the resources on this page using affiliate links. When you click on something and purchase it, Niabusiness will receive a commission from every successful sale / referral, at no extra cost to you.

So, if you are just curious about the other places Kenyans go to find work online, here is what I found out.

The freelance websites that Kenyans use to find jobs online

Toogit

Today was my first time hearing about Toogit.

When I searched for freelance jobs in Kenya, there was a jobs near me table right there on Google Search with listings from Toogit.com.

So, I typed the domain on the web address bar to find more about it. It is a marketplace similar to UpWork, Freelancer, Guru and PeoplePerHour – with several categories ranging from design, mobile apps, software development, virtually assistance, article writing, sales & marketing among others.

The Star Kenya Classifieds

This is the online classifieds site owned by the The Star Newspaper (Radio Africa Group).

The classifieds is popular with freelancers because it pulls data from different sites and puts all the listings they gather in one place. Think of it as an aggregator of sorts.

In this site you will find listings from websites like BrighterMonday.co.ke, Fidanto.com, Ikigai.co.ke, Kenyans.com, Profdir.com and Findojobs.ke.

I could see listings for freelance article writing, research writing, medical writing, blog post writing, marketing, accounting and team Management.

It also has a nifty feature. If you do / don’t find what you are looking for, you can create an alert just for a specific search term.

Upwork

This site is really popular amongst online freelancers in Kenya. It morphed from the merger of two sites you might have heard of in the past (Elance and ODesk).

I don’t think there is any freelancer in Kenya who hasn’t heard about UpWork.

You can find work on a variety of categories listed on the site. And they are many because clients from all over the world are known to outsource all manner of tasks on the marketplace.

Some of the popular categories on the site fall under design, voice over, writing, sales, animation, logos, videos production.

Most of these websites pay freelancers via wire transfer, Skrill, PayPal and M-PESA.

So, if you are looking for genuine freelancing sites:

  • Check marketplaces
  • Check classifieds sites

And don’t forget about Niabusiness.com. If you are a freelancer, place an ad on the site. Let potential clients that will come to the site find your listing already posted to the site.

To create your ad listing for free, just come up with a good title for the freelance service you offer. Accompany it with a detailed description. And then just post it to Niabusiness Classifieds.

Once it is approved, you will get an email notification.

Share your ad listing on social platforms like Facebook and Twitter using the sharing buttons just below the description section of your listing.
