What is Safaricom Bonga Points? This is the reward scheme Safaricom has set up for its customers. Through this scheme, users get rewarded every time they use various Safaricom products and services.

Every time you top up and spend (buy minutes, SMS or data bundles on your Safaricom line) you earn points – points you can redeem for free airtime, SMS, minutes (talk-time), data, tickets and devices.

Lipa na Bonga Points

How to use Safaricom Lipa na Bonga Points

Dial *126#
Select option 1: Lipa na Bonga Points
Then reply with:
1 to access the Buy Goods menu (Enter till number > Account number > Amount > Create a Safaricom universal PIN)
2 to access the Pay Bill menu (Enter Business number > Amount)
3 for Bonga Calculator, and
4 to View Points

Here’s something you will see if you try to use the Buy Goods option for example:

You will be asked for the till number
The account number
How much you want to pay
Then you will see the following: ‘Please confirm payment of KSH 5 worth 25 Bonga Points to EXAMPLE COMPANY.’
Reply with – 1: Accept or 2: Decline

If you have enough Bonga Points, you can make payment entirely from the Bonga Points you have accumulated.

If you think you don’t have enough points, use the Bonga Calculator to gauge how many points you will need for a particular purchase.

1- Browse latest clothes, shoes, baby fashion, kid’s fashion, women’s fashion & men’s fashion, electronics, feature phones, smartphones, laptops, tablets, power banks, memory cards, smart watches, on Jumia.

You can use a mixture of Bonga Points + cash to complete a purchase.

Use the options 1: Points you wish to redeem & 2: Cash you wish to spend to see how much you will need of each.

How to check Safaricom Bonga Points balance

Select option 2: Check Bonga Points
You’ll then be shown how many points you have. You will see something like this: ‘Your Bonga Points balance is 5. Thank you for staying with Safaricom, Twaweza.’

You can also check your Bonga Points balance online.

And you will get a password in a text message that looks like this: ‘Your password is 857057. It is valid for 48 hours. Please present it at any of our Shops when collecting your reward.’

To redeem Kenya Airways tickets with your Bonga Points

Here is how to enroll to Safaricom Bonga – and start accumulating points every time you use their voice, text and data services.

Once you follow these steps, your Bonga will become active. Spending Kenya Shillings 10 will get you 1 Bonga Point.

So, if you are a new Safaricom customer, or if you have never enrolled into the Bonga scheme, follow the steps above to activate the feature.

Transfer Bonga Points

How to transfer Bonga Points

Dial *126#
Select option 5: Transfer Bonga Points
Enter phone number to transfer Bonga Points to
Enter the number of Bonga Points to transfer

You will need a minimum of 50 Bonga Points to transfer points from your line to another Safaricom phone number.

Set or Change Bonga PIN

How to set or change Bonga PIN on Safaricom line

Dial *126#
Enter 98 to view more items on the menu
Select option 6: Set or Change Bonga PIN
Reply with 1 to set new PIN or 2 to change current PIN
If you reply with 1, enter your national ID number and press Send
Enter your last direct top up amount e.g. 20
‘Please enter new PIN’ e.g. 3409 and press Send
‘Please confirm your new Bonga PIN’ and press Send
‘Your new Bonga PIN is 3409. Please keep your PIN n umber safe and do not share it with anyone.’
To change current PIN, reply with 2
‘Please enter your current Bonga PIN’ and press Send
‘Enter new four digit Bonga PIN:’ press Send
‘Please confirm your new Bonga PIN’ and press Send.

Daily Bundles Renewal

How to use Safaricom daily bundles renewal

Select option 7: Daily Bundles Renewal
Then select
1 to Subscribe
2 to see Available Daily Bundles
3 to Unsubscribe

To view available daily bundles, do the following:

For SMS, go to the Available Daily Bundles > Daily SMS Bundles.

20 SMS daily at KSh 5 or 25 Bonga Points
200 SMS daily at KSh 10 or 50 Bonga Points

For data, go to the Available Daily Bundles > Daily Data Bundles.

5 MB and 5 SMS daily at 5/- or 25 Bonga Points
10 MB and 10 SMS daily at 10/- or 50 Bonga Points
