Want to learn how to check your Equitel airtime balance?
I’m going to show you various methods to do so (to check your airtime, minutes, text and data bundle balance).
First on the list, I’m going to show you how to use the *144# USSD shortcode to get your balances.

Dial *144# to check Equitel airtime balance
I think this is by far the fastest way to check your Equitel airtime balance.
The company shares the same USSD code as Safaricom.
So, if you have SIM cards from both companies, all you need to remember, any time you want to check your airtime balance, is to dial *144#.
Here’s an example of the notification I get, when I do so on my line: You airtime balance as of 20/09/2019 14:10 is 7.21 KSh.
Dial *100# to check balance on your Equitel line
- Dial *100# on your feature phone, smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer
- Select option 1. Check Balance
- Select option 1. Balance Inquiry OR
- Select option 2. Bonus Inquiry
When you reply with option 1, you’ll see the following (this is just an example): You airtime balance as of 20/09/2019 14:10 is 7.21 KSh.
When you reply with 2 to check your Equitel bonus airtime, you’ll see something like this: Your bonus balance as of 20/09/2019 14:15 is data 0.00 MB, voice 0.00 minutes, sms 0.
To check your balance via the Equitel SIM Toolkit, follow the steps below:
- Locate the Equitel SIM Toolkit icon on your device’s main menu
- Select My Phone
- Select Equitel Self Service
- Select option 1. Check balance
- Reply with 1 for main balance inquiry OR 2 for bonus airtime inquiry.
How to check Equitel bundle balance
And lastly, if you want to learn how to check your Equitel bundle balance (for Data Plus Bundles, Jipimie Bundles and Ongea Bundles):
- Dial *544#
- Enter 99 to view more items on the menu
- Reply with 8 to Check balance
- Wait for a confirmation SMS with your bundle balance details.
In the text message I received, I noticed that the company combines details about minutes, data and text in the one message.
Which makes me think that if you have an active voice, text or data bundle, all you need to get all the balances, is to use just the one method I’ve shown you above.
Here’s how that text looks: You airtime balance as of 20/09/19 at 14:30:19 is KSh 7.21, 0.00 MB, 0.00 Min, 0 SMS.
