What next? What do you do after using the methods above?

After checking if your SIM supports 4G and find out that it is, just keep buying Safaricom data bundles and enjoy accessing the internet using the network.

Buy daily data bundles, 7 day bundles, 30 day bundles, 90 day bundles, Giga bundles, All In One Bundles, Platinum bundles, Tunukiwa internet bundles or Advantage Plus bundles and enjoy browsing the web.

If your SIM card supports only 3G & 2G and you want a SIM with 4G capability, just go to a Safaricom shop near you. Pay them a visit for a SIM replacement / swap / upgrade.

It should cost you just Kenya Shillings 50 – 100. This is money for the new 4G SIM card you’ll get.

When visiting any of the Safaricom Shops countrywide, carry your old SIM (and the card it was attached to). Also carry your national ID / passport.

Once the upgrade is complete, just top up and keep enjoying various Safaricom products and services.

Buy these at Safaricom Shops

While still at the shop you can even buy yourself the following items:

  1. A smartphone that supports 4G
  2. A 4G Mi-Fi router. I wrote about some that you could buy online from Jumia Kenya in this post. The routers I mentioned are universal / unlocked. They work with Telkom Kenya and Airtel Kenya lines as well. Learn more in this post. Also note that Safaricom sells routers on their online shop Masoko.
  3. A 4G capable tablet. If you like using tablets for work, movies, surfing or reading, you can buy yourself one from the shops. Get an Apple iPad, a Samsung Galaxy tab, Huawei tablets – or choose among the other many Google Android / Microsoft Windows 10 powered devices.
  4. Buy some of the devices listed in the Safaricom Bonga Points menu. To see the list of some of the accessories, smartphones and tablets, read this post.
