Buy Safaricom data bundle with no expiry date for other number, your number or check balance

In 2019 Safaricom introduced data bundles with no expiry date to the Kenyan market. Unlike daily bundles, 7 day bundles, 30 day bundles, 90 day bundles, Flex, Platinum, Advantage and International bundles, buyers of the new bundles introduced in 2019 don’t have to worry about not being able to use their data – because of some expiry date they are told about when they are purchasing.

With these new bundles 30 days can come, no worries, 90 days, no worries. Your data, purchased via the Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE) menu, will always be free of the limitation of ‘some future expiry date’.

Here are some text messages I received from the mobile phone service provide that further illustrate what they are offering to their customers through these new bundles. Note also that Safaricom introduced calls & SMS with no expiry date as well. I have written a post about that as well. To read, go here.

  • ‘What has changed FOR YOU? 1. Bundles with No Expiry Date 2. Buy for any amount even 1/ – 3. 50% Extra airtime for Calls and SMS across all networks. Dial *544#.’
  • ‘Get up to 500MB data with NO EXPIRY DATE for as low as KSh 100. Dial *544*1*100# now to purchase.’
  • ‘You have received 20 MB with no expiry. To check your balance dial *544#.’
  • ‘Data Bundles: 20MB, with no expiry date.’

How much data with no expiry do you get from Safaricom when you spend say…

How to purchase Safaricom Data Bundles with NO EXPIRY DATE for your line

So, say you want to spend Kenya Shillings 20 on Safaricom data bundles with no expiry date, just follow the steps below:

  • Dial *544*1*Amount# on your feature phone, smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer (if using your SIM in a modem or router). For example if you want to purchase Kenyan Shillings 20 worth of data (with no expiry), simply dial *544*1*20# and you will be awarded with 70MB. If you have insufficient airtime you can top up and try again or purchase a bundle for a lower amount – e.g. *544*1*10# to get 20MB with no expiry at 10 Shillings.

OR

  • Dial *544#
  • Select option 1: Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE)
  • Select option 1: Buy For My Number
  • Enter Amount you wish to spend e.g. 20
  • ‘Confirm purchase of 70MBs (NO EXPIRY DATE) @ Ksh 20’
  • Reply with 1 to pay with Airtime or 2 to pay for your purchase via M-Pesa
    If you want to change the amount you wish to spend, select option 3: Enter a Different Amount
    Wait for a confirmation SMS from Safaricom
    Now, you can access the internet on your favourite web browser without worrying about expiry dates

OR

  • Dial *100#
  • Select option 9: Buy
  • Select option 1: Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE)
  • Select option 1: Buy For My Number
  • Enter amount you wish to spend e.g. 20
  • ‘Confirm purchase of 70MBs (NO EXPIRY DATE) @Ksh 20’
  • Pay via M-PESA or using airtime

How to purchase data bundle with NO EXPIRY DATE for another Safaricom number

Here is how to purchase calls and SMS with no expiry date for another Safaricom phone number.

  • Dial *544#
  • Select option 1: Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE)
  • Select option 2: Buy For Other Number
  • Enter the other phone number e.g. 0704123456
  • Enter amount you wish to spend e.g. 20
  • ‘Confirm purchase of 70 MB @Ksh 20 (NO EXPIRY DATE) for 0704123456’
  • Pay with – 1: Airtime or 2: M-Pesa
  • To enter a different amount, reply with 3: Enter a Different Amount

OR

  • Dial *100#
  • Select option 9: Buy
  • Select option 1: Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE)
  • Select option 2: Buy For Other Number
  • Enter the phone number e.g. 0704123456
  • Enter amount you wish to spend e.g. 20
  • ‘Confirm purchase of 70 MB @Ksh 20 (NO EXPIRY DATE) for 0704123456’
  • Pay with – 1: Airtime or 2: M-Pesa
  • To enter a different amount, reply with 3: Enter a Different Amount

OR

Buy a data bundle with no expiry date using the Tunukiwa Safaricom USSD code. Here is how:

  • Dial *444#
  • Select option 1: Tunukiwa Internet (*444*1#)
  • Select option 1: Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE)
  • Select Buy For My Number / Other Number
    Then just follow the steps above (enter phone number / amount you wish to spend and then choose to pay with M-PESA or airtime).
