How to buy Safaricom Advantage Plus bundles (check bundles balance)

In this post I am going to show you how to buy Safaricom Advantage Plus bundles on your feature phone, smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer (if you’re using your Safaricom SIM card in a modem or router).

I am going to share the full list of bundles under the menu.

At the end of the post I’ll show you the steps you can take to check your bundle balance.

Here are a few things you should know first:

  1. The amount of data you get with Advantage Plus: It depends on the bundle you purchase. On the lower end, you get 200 MB. On the higher end you get 18 GB of data. In between you’ll find bundles with 300 MB, 500 MB, 3 GB and 6 GB.
  2. The number of minutes you get with Advantage Plus: The cheapest bundle gets you 400 minutes. The most expensive bundle on the menu gets you 9000 minutes. In between you will find bundles with 600 minutes, 900 minutes, 1500 minutes and 3000 minutes.
  3. The number of text messages / SMS you get with Advantage Plus: The cheapest bundle has 200 SMS. The most expensive bundle on the menu gets you 9000 SMS. Between the two are bundles offering buyers 300 SMS, 500 SMS, 1500 SMS and 3000 SMS.
  4. How much Safaricom Advantage Plus bundles cost: The cheapest costs Kenya Shillings 1249. The most expensive bundle on the list goes for Kenya Shillings 9999.

How to access the Safaricom Advantage Plus Bundles menu

You can use two Safaricom USSD shortcodes to access the Advantage Plus menu on your Safaricom line. The two USSD codes are *456# and *100#.

Here is how you use them to access the menu.

 0- Browse products by brand: Tecno, Infinix, Samsung, Huawei, Annov, HP, Garnier, Apple, Android, Ramtons, LG, Oppo, Redmi / Xiaomi, Nokia, X-tigi, iTel, Zuku, DStv, Startimes, GOtv, ZTE, Cubot, Gionee, Realme, Lenovo, Motorola, Oukitel, Oneplus, Bruhm, Phillips, Umidigi, Hisense, GLD, Skyworth, Amazon, Mika, Vivo, Oraimo, Toshiba, Acer, Asus, Syinix, Sayona, Von Hotpoint, Ampex, Sony, Toyota & Honda on Jumia Kenya. 

  • Dial *456#
  • Select option 1: Buy
  • Select option 7: Advantage Plus

OR

  • Dial *100#
  • Enter 98 to view more items on the menu
  • Select option 9: Advantage Plus

Select your preferred Plan:

  1. Ksh 1999 (900Min,500MB,500SMS)

  5. Other Plans

Under option 5: Other Plans, you’ll find the following items

  1. Ksh 9999 (9000Min,18GB,9000SMS)
  2. Ksh 4999 (3000Min,6GB,3000SMS)
  3. Ksh 2999 (1500Min,3GB,1500SMS)

How to buy a Safaricom Advantage Plus bundle

To buy the KSh 1999 (900 Minutes, 500MB, 500 SMS) bundle for example, follow the steps below:

 2- Browse latest TVs, fridges, microwaves, dispensers, cookers, furniture, kitchenware, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, headphones, earphones / headsets, phone cases, chargers, MiFi routers, bluetooth speakers on Jumia. 

  • Dial *456#
  • Select option 1: Buy
  • Select option 7: Advantage Plus
  • Select option 1: Ksh1999 (900Min,500MB,500SMS)
  • Select preferred Payment option
    1: Prepay(No deposit required)
    2: Postpay(1 Month deposit required)
  • If you reply with 1 (Prepay), select how you want to pay for the bundle
  • Reply with 1 to pay using Airtime or 2 to pay via M-PESA
  • ‘Please confirm purchase of Advantage plus @1999/- : 900 Local Mins, 500 Local SMS & 500MBs?’
  • Reply with 1 (Accept) to complete the transaction OR 2 to Cancel
  • If you reply with 2 (Postpay), enter a valid email address where your monthly bill will be sent e.g. example@gmail.com
  • Then accept the terms and conditions of the service by replying with 1 (Accept) or 2 (Decline)
  • You’ll then see the following: ‘A deposit of Sh. 1999, prepayment of Sh.1999 and Okoa Jahazi of Sh.0 will be deducted from your M-PESA Account. Continue?’
  • Reply with 1 (Yes) to make payment from your M-PESA account / complete the purchase.
    If you change your mind and don’t want to buy the bundle, reply with 2 (No).

How to check Safaricom Advantage Plus bundles balance

To check your balance:

 1- Browse latest clothes, shoes, baby fashion, kid’s fashion, women’s fashion & men’s fashion, electronics, feature phones, smartphones, laptops, tablets, power banks, memory cards, smart watches, on Jumia. 

  • Dial *456#
  • Select option 1: Buy
  • Select option 7: Advantage Plus
  • Select option 4: Check Bundle Balance
  • Select Option: 1: Advantage Plus Plan (wait for the details in the SMS Safaricom will send you)
  • Or reply with 2: Other Balances (to check your Bonga balance and expiry for example)
