Get your Safaricom number from the card your SIM was attached to during purchase

You know the card with your PIN 1, PIN 2, PUK 1, PUK 2, serial number – the card Safaricom tells you to keep / retain as proof of ownership?

Find where you kept it. Your phone number will be on it.

If you can’t find the original card, use any of the other methods mentioned in this post to know your phone number.

Do note that if you ever performed a SIM swap, your phone number will not be listed in the new card you get – that is why you have to get the original card – the one you were given when you first purchased your SIM card.

The newer cards you get after a SIM swap usually have on them the PIN 1, PIN 2, PUK 1, PUK 2, IMSI and serial number but not the phone number.

Call another number, end the call and copy your Safaricom number

How do you use this method to get your number?

  • Buy airtimeI show you how here.
  • Load the airtime on your line
  • Call another phone number – maybe a friend’s or a family member or a line in your second phone
  • Once the call goes through, end it
  • Then just copy your number from the other phone
  • Write it on a piece of paper or in a notebook / diary. You can even save it in your phonebook.

  • Send the message to your other number – or a friend’s number
  • Check the other phone’s Inbox
  • Check the sender’s number in the most recent (blank) text
  • Copy the sender’s number – your phone number.
  • Add the number to your contacts list. Or in a book.
  • Memorize it.

Also note that you can find your number by checking the old text messages from when you first purchased your line (if you still have copies stored somewhere) or check registration documents pertaining to your line – your M-PESA registration documents for example.
