How to buy Telkom Kenya SMS bundles (subscribe / unsubscribe)

In this post you will learn how to buy Telkom Kenya SMS bundles. I will show you how to subscribe or unsubscribe from a bundle. I’ll show you how to check your SMS bundle balance. And then also show you why I think Holla @ 10 bundle can be a good alternative for anyone looking to purchase text bundles from Telkom.

Why buy Telkom Kenya SMS bundles & How much do you end up paying per SMS

It’s cheaper, compared to getting money deducted straight out of your prepaid account balance every time you send an SMS.

With the daily 50 SMS bundle, you end up paying a total of KSh 0.1 per SMS.

Note: This post may contain affiliate links. When you click on something I recommend and purchase it, I will receive a commission for the sale – at no extra cost to you.

With the 250 SMS bundle, you’ll end up paying a total of KSh 0.04 per SMS.

How to buy Telkom Kenya SMS bundles

You can use the *100#, *123# and *544# USSD shortcodes to access the Telkom Kenya SMS Bundles menu. When you dial either *100# or *123#, you’ll see the same menu. When you use the *544# shortcode, you’ll see a different menu. The most important thing is that you can use all these codes to access the SMS bundles menu on your Telkom line.

Here’s how to access the menu by dialing *544#

  • Dial *544#
  • Scroll to the bottom and enter 7 to access more items on the 544 menu
  • Once on the next page, select option 8: SMS Bundles
  • Select option 1 to buy the 50 SMS bundle, option 2 for the daily 250 SMS bundle or option 3 to unsubscribe
  • I selected option 2 (for 250 texts)
  • Select Confirm (other options at this point include the option to cancel or unsubscribe)

That is how you go about buying SMS bundles on Telkom. You can use the steps above to purchase any bundle: the 50 SMS or the 250 SMS bundle.

Your daily usage will vary.

Some days you will opt for 50 texts to send to any network.

On other days, you will have to purchase the 250 SMS bundle if you want to reserve the 50 ALL net texts to other networks while still having access to hundreds more cheap texts to send to any Telkom Kenya phone number.

  • Dial *544#
  • Scroll to the bottom and enter 7 to go to the next page on the menu

What other Telkom Kenya bundle would I buy that is similar to the SMS bundles above?

How about the Holla @ 10 bundle? It seems like a good alternative to both bundles. Yes, you get fewer texts after purchasing it but I still think it is a good alternative.

Here’s why: The SMS bundles I’ve mentioned above gets you 50 ALL Net SMS. Holla KSh 10 bundle gets you 40 ALL Net SMS. On top of that you get 100 Telkom minutes with Holla@10.

So, instead of 200 extra texts to send to Telkom Kenya numbers, you get 100 minutes to call. Plus there’s 10MB of data which you can use to chat with your buddies online in case you run out of texts.

To purchase the Holla bundle I’ve mentioned

  • Dial *100#
  • Select option 3: Talk, Text & More
  • Select option 1: Niaje + Holla bundles
  • Select option 1: Holla @ 10 – valid 24 hours
  • Select Buy Once (or Auto Renew) to get 100 Telkom Minutes + 40 ALL Network SMS + 10MB of data
