Do you want to know how to purchase Safaricom Tunukiwa internet bundles with Safaricom Bonga Points instead of M-PESA or airtime? Well, I am going to show you how in this post.

A few things you should know first

1. Not all Tunukiwa bundles can be purchased like this. For example, out of all the Tunukiwa data bundles personalized and customized for my line, I can only purchase one bundle out of a total of six under the Tunukiwa Internet option (*444*1#). It is a weekly bundle of 20MB at KSh 10. So, check all the Data Offers available to you. See if you have at least one you can buy with Bonga Points. Do note that all the bundles under the Tunukiwa Bonga option (*444*3#) can all be purchased with Bonga Points. More on this below.
2. You must have enough Bonga Points. To purchase a bundle that requires 33 points you must have accumulated 33 Bonga Points or more through your continuous use of your Safaricom line to call, text and browse the web. If you want to buy a bundle under the Tunukiwa Bonga option and the bundle requires you to have at least 500 Bonga Points, make sure you have enough points. I show you here how to check your Bonga Points balance.
3. And of course I must also remind you that you can buy Tunukiwa Offers multiple times in a day. So, if the offer (for example 20MB at Kenya Shillings 10 valid for 7 days) can be purchased with 33 Bonga Points, you can make two purchases of the same offer if you have 66 Bonga Points – or three purchases if you have 99 Bonga Points and so on and so forth.

How the Safaricom Tunukiwa Offers menu looks like

At the time of writing this post, when I dial the *444# USSD short code to access the Tunukiwa Offers on my line, here are the options I am presented with.

• Tunukiwa Gifts
• Hot Deals
• Tunukiwa Balance
• Unsubscribe
• FAQs

I am showing you this just so you get a better understanding of the areas you should focus on on the *444# menu when trying to purchase a data bundle with Bonga Points. And that is the:

1. Tunukiwa Internet option, and
2. Tunukiwa Bonga option

The Tunukiwa Internet option (*444*1#) has the following items:

1. Data Bundle (NO EXPIRY DATE)
2. Sh 10 (20MB valid 7 days)
3. Sh 50 (2GB valid 1 hour)
4. Sh 99 (1GB valid 24 hrs)
5. Sh 99 (350MB valid 7 days)
6. Sh 100 (385MB valid 2 days)

While the Tunukiwa Bonga option (*444*3#) > Bonga Data has the following items listed under it:

1. 80MB @100 Bonga points valid 1 day
2. 250MB @250 Bonga pts valid 7 days
3. 500MB @500 Bonga pts valid 7 days
4. 1GB @1000 Bonga pts valid 7 days

How to purchase a data bundle from the Tunukiwa Bonga with Bonga Points

• Dial *444#
• Select option 3: Tunukiwa Bonga
• Select option 1: Bonga Data
• Then select the bundle you want to purchase with your Bonga Points. Reply with 1 for the 80 MB bundle, 2 for the 250MB bundle, 3 for the 500MB bundle or 4 for the 1GB bundle.
  To purchase the 500MB at 500 Bonga Points for example, reply with 3.

• Select option 1: Buy
• Select option 10: Get Deals
• Select option 1: Tunukiwa
• Select option 3: Tunukiwa Bonga
• Select option 1: Bonga Data
• Reply with 3 to purchase the 500MB @500 Bonga pts valid 7days

How to purchase a data bundle from the Tunukiwa Internet option using Bonga Points

In case you have a bundle under the Tunukiwa Internet that be purchased using Bonga Points like I do, follow the steps below:

• Dial *444# on your feature phone, smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer (if using your SIM in a modem or router)
• Select option 1: Tunukiwa Internet
• Select the bundle you can buy with Bonga Points. For me, that is option 2 for the Sh 10 (20MB valid 7 days) bundle
  ‘Buy Sh 10 (20MB valid 7 days) using:’
• Reply with 3: Bonga (33 pts)
  Other options for payment are also available in case your points are insufficient. You can reply with 1 to pay with Airtime, 2 to pay via M-PESA or 4 to pay via Okoa Jahazi.

• Select option 10: Get Deals
• Select option 1: Tunukiwa
• Select option 1: Tunukiwa Internet
• Select option 2: Sh 10 (20MB valid 7 days)
