7 things you do to your computer that you should replicate in your life to be a better person

There are many things we do to our computers regularly, to improve the performance of the machines or just to make our experience when using them better.

These are things we take for granted because we have done them several times that they are now like routine stuff we don’t give that much thought.

But in them, lie great lessons that we can use to make our lives better and our daily experiences more enjoyable.

Here are 7 things you do to your computer that you can replicate in your life starting now.

1. Scanning your computer for viruses and malware

You always scan your computer for viruses, right? You are always looking for the next rogue autorun to weed out of your system.

Why not take time to scan your life, to find out things that are causing you pain. The problems may be self-inflicted (an example where you get music from your friends computer that’s full of viruses using a flash disk, then opening it on your computer without bothering to scan it).

Allocate sometime to scan your system. To develop good habits. To be a better person.

2. Upgrading RAM

There are so many exercises you can do to increase your memory and productivity.

For computers you can just buy a RAM with more Gigabytes and slot it in.

You can upgrade your memory by playing crosswords, chess, Sudoku, puzzles and other board games.

Books are also important, so get into the habit of reading.

3. Installing new programs

You can install a new program that’s not in conflict with your system.

Bad programs may cause your system to crash and boom, all the goodness that you kept safely in your hard drive may disappear in an instance.

Careful to install the right programs. Careful not to load your system with programs you won’t be using.

The equivalent of programs here is habits. Fight hard to keep your system in top shape.

Do away with bad habits.

Incorporate new habits and see if your system performs better.

Rinse and repeat as often as necessary.

4. Connecting to the internet

There are several network types for computers and related electronic devices.

More and more people spend a chunk of their time on the internet.

Some have bought modems to connect their computers to the internet.

Why? To query Google, Bing, YouTube and other search engines, to look over short biographies over at Wikipedia, to chat with friends on Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter.

Find friends. Make friends.

Connect to others, then query them, chat with them. Seek knowledge and ado all the good things you do with your computer or phone whenever you get online.

Do that in the offline world often.

5. Protection from power surges e.g. by using an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

The power surges can damage your system.

You don’t want something melting your motherboard, do you?

You can invest in a UPS to protect your system from power surges.

What should you replicate here? Look for ways to shield yourself from stress and the pressures of life (for example: don’t deliberately do things that will end up hurting you down the road just because you feel the need for some instant gratification now).

You won’t get a solution that is a 100% effective but that shouldn’t stop you from doing the best you can to keep your system 99% stress-free.

6. Diagnosing problems using the troubleshooter

Ever taken time to find out why your DVD is not working only to be met with this device is working properly If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter.? (Note: this is an example from Microsoft Windows.)

May be you’ve tried to diagnose network problems, and found help using the troubleshooter.

Sometimes we also know that we are talented at some things but wonder why our talents are not benefiting us at all.

And so we click on the troubleshooter. Most people never get help from the troubleshooter. They get tired clicking on NEXT, BACK or START OVER.

May be your talent is not benefitting you because of inaction on your part or may be ‘it’s not yet the right time to figure things out’ or may be you are not consistent.

Troubleshoot your way to a solution. Don’t put in the effort and leave things halfway.

7. I also know that you’ll always try your best to make your computer comfortable and attractive

You’ll do whatever is in your power to make the time you spend on your computer enjoyable.

You’ll blow the dust away; get your computer a desk or table etc.

You can also make your life comfortable in a way – blow the dust away.

And how about making it attractive? Sulk less. Do away with the moodiness in you.

Watch how you treat others.

Get over past hurts and move on to better things all waiting for you in the present moment.

Many people would want to be with you just the way a good computer attracts more eyeballs and curious fingers if you just only made the choice to treat yourself better as a person.
